An Incredible Discovery in Greater Poland: The "Polish Pyramids" Hidden a Number of Secrets

"We have pyramids at home" – to paraphrase a popular online meme. But in this case, it's no joke. What was actually discovered in the General Dezydery Chłapowski Landscape Park?

As reported on the website of the Landscape Parks Complex of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship , a unique discovery was made in the General Dezydery Chłapowski Landscape Park , located on the border of the Kościan and Śrem counties.

Near the village of Wyskoć , during a routine inspection, mysterious earth mounds were discovered.

As we read in a Facebook post, after archaeological verification by scientists from the Faculty of Archaeology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, it turned out that these tombs date back to the late Neolithic period, approximately 5,500 years ago. According to experts, they were created by people of the Funnel Beaker culture .

Polish pyramids and beds of giants

The discovered mounds are the so-called megaliths, which are also called Kujawy-type tombs or "giants' beds" or even... "Polish pyramids" .

Beds of giants? Yes, because tombs can be several dozen meters long . Importantly, tombs were also places where ceremonies and rituals were conducted.

The discovery is, however, very important. This is only the second such grouping in Greater Poland to be examined by specialists.

Polish Indiana Jones

A team of researchers from the Faculty of Archaeology of Adam Mickiewicz University, led by Dr. Danuta Żurkiewicz and Dr. Iwona Sobkowiak-Tabaka, a professor at Adam Mickiewicz University, is still conducting excavations.

It is worth noting that the "Polish pyramids" were discovered by Artur Golis from the Landscape Parks Complex of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship , who was called by his colleagues in one of the comments under the Facebook post... "the Polish Indiana Jones" .

We congratulate Mr. Artur and believe he deserves at least the stylish fedora for which Harrison Ford's character is known.
